Going To Show You Spring
Hi Friends! Today is just a quick post as I get myself ramped up for the summer.
First, starting with gratitude! I am so grateful for your patience this year, with all the streams I’ve cancelled, and the ability to just kind of wander around in search of meaning and peace, in the face of all of the nightmare of cruelty unfolding around us and enacted through twisting government policies and the degradation of long-held social civility. It’s been a rough year and I’ve been immensely affected by it, as I know so many of my friends and family are. Everyone in my circles is holding themselves together through our bonds and that helps fill us up to continue to weather what’s happening and what’s coming. It’s hard, but we’re still here and I’m grateful for that, too. Thank you, and I hope you’re also doing well.
Now to business! This last month I’ve come out of my stupor and I’m ready to get into some stuff! So let’s start at the top:
Schedule: On the Twitch channel, I took down the schedule panel so I could redo it. It’s going back up as soon as I get my act together. For now, as we head through Spring and into Summer, the schedule is as follows: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7pm EST. Finally added Fridays into the mix! Friday will be an additional game or hobby night, and starting this week (Friday the 9th) I’ll start working on the Lego Rivendell! I hope you’ll come hang out!
Music: I’m setting up a music-related channel redeem! Starting in June, I can figure this out, we’ll be starting what I’m calling a Community Song (or as I took to calling it when the idea first came to me, an “Unending Song”). I’ll have a line of music at the bottom of the screen and, for every how many hundreds of channel points (I’ll figure that later), folks can add a chord or a measure to the end of the song. More details as this project develops.
Comics: We are moving right along with Eyes Of Heaven! Here’s some other stuff:
Uploads for current works on Twitch. Aligning with Twitch’s rules on storing uploads and highlights, I think it just makes sense to take all my other stuff down if it’s not a current project. This does mean that the gameplay uploads came down as well, and that’s aligned with my personal directive to showcase the work I’m doing and to just let those gaming memories be gaming memories. If I make any clips of stuff then those will absolutely stay, just not uploads. Older projects I’m keeping will get transferred over to the YouTube channel so I can always keep the newer, current uploads on Twitch.
Speaking of current work, I’m going to take down all the old issue 1 videos permanently. My plan is to restart those projects now that I have new scripts for them that flow directly from the Eyes Of Heaven book. That’ll probably be done by the end of this week.
Other new works include the in-progress follow up to The Night Is Our Victory. Forever in-progress, this is a 12-part story that will be the second installment of the historical pieces. Right now, it’s where it’s always been, which is in scripting limbo. I have to move forward on this soon!
Overall: The sum of the work I do on Twitch and share on social media and elsewhere is largely focused on fantasy worldbuilding through art, literature, and music. I’m trying to align the vision with the work I do, while also making it fun for me to keep showing up and sharing. I have a whole universe to build and this is what keeps me going and what keeps the ideas coming. To be sure, being on Twitch is a great way to showcase that universe-building and that story-telling in real time. But what I really need to do is The Work. I’m not going to add anything more to my plate other than opportunities to get my ideas down and do some scribbling when I need to, but I want to share that I need to get back to doing unrecorded work to move these things forward. I want to get Eyes Of Heaven published by the end of summer, and that’s going to require an investment of time that I haven’t been able to put in for a while, even off-stream.
I don’t quite know how to put it on my schedule, so I’m going to pop down a thing or two whenever I think of it, and I’m going to be thinking about it a lot more and more as the days and weeks go and as I move current stuff along. Eyes Of Heaven is the main thing right now and once that’s done, then I’m going right into planning its second issue (of six) and getting started again on the issue 1s, which means cover work and layouts. This will be a start of fall thing, I think.
